Addresses and Directions

by admin last modified 2010-06-01 13:12

Unfortunately, the DS Team is divided into two parts, residing in two different buildings.

Main Address:

RWTH Aachen University
Distributed Systems Group
Chair of Computer Science IV
Ahornstraße 55
52074 Aachen
Germany

The DS Team also uses offices at the UMIC building:

RWTH Aachen University
UMIC Building - 1st floor, right wing
Mies-van-der-Rohe-Straße 15
52074 Aachen
Germany

The staff of the Mobile ACcess project and the ADAPT project is working in the UMIC building. Their offices are located on the 1st floor, right wing. The UMIC building is located 200m south (down the hill on Mies-van-der-Rohe-Straße) from Computer Science Center. We recommend to use the parking space at the Computer Science Center.

You find directions to the UMIC building here.

Our main offices

Our main offices (in particular the offices of Prof. Wehrle and Ulrike May) are located in building E1, 2nd floor (north wing). Follow the blue-colored signs for the Lehr- und Forschungsgebiet Informatik 4 (LuFGi4) in the Computer Science Center. You might prefer the figure on the right over the somewhat confusing signposting at the Computer Science Center.

Our Campus

The Distributed Systems Group is located in the Computer Science Center (Informatikzentrum) of RWTH Aachen University.

Getting to the Center for Computer Science ("Informatikzentrum")

By train:

  • From Aachen main train station (Aachen Hauptbahnhof):

Enter the 'Bahnhofstraße' opposite the main station. Follow this street to the next crossing (Theaterstraße). Go to a bus stop (Wallstraße) at the opposite side of the Theaterstraße. Take bus line 33 with destination 'Vaals (NL) über Klinikum'. Leave the bus at the Halifaxstraße. The Center for Computer Science is the large building on the left. Bus schedules can be found here and with German Railways.
(Another bus line to the Halifaxstraße is line number 23, direction Physikzentrum / Hörn). A Bus ride might be a nuisance, so consider taking a taxi (average cost: 8 Euros).

  • From the train station Aachen West (recommended):

From the platform (there is only one) go downstairs, turn right and follow Seffenter Weg uphill. Follow this street up to the first T-junction (about 300 m), then turn left into the 'Mies-v.d.-Rohe Straße'. Walk this street uphill to its end (about 500 m). The last large building on the right is the Center for Computer Science (entrance marked "Informatik or Informatikzentrum"). The entire walk takes less than 10 min.

By car

  • Coming from Cologne (A4), Düsseldorf or Belgium (A44):

Follow the signs at interchange 'Aachener Kreuz' in the direction 'Heerlen' (on the A4). Continue as in item 2 below.

  • Coming from the Netherlands or from the 'Aachener Kreuz' (A4):

Leave the highway at exit 'Aachen-Laurensberg'. At the traffic lights head in the direction 'Aachen'. Turn right into the 'Toledo Ring' ('Klinikum' sign). Take the third exit from the ring into the 'Halifaxstraße'. Turn left at the second traffic lights into the 'Mies-v.d.-Rohe Straße'. On the left, you will find an entrance to the parking lot behind the Center for Computer Science.
