In this thesis, an approach for the integration of wireless sensor networks with vehicular ad-hoc networks for the purpose of road and traffic monitoring is investigated. The WSN organizes itself into multiple shortest paths trees, which are used to collect sensor data. The data is delivered to gateway nodes which interact directly with passing vehicles. We further investigate the feasibility of the approach using a real-world deployment.
